On the very same day the 2010 World Cup kicked off in South Africa, artist and Chinatown Soccer Club founding member, Ryan McGinness, invited the CSC to host a World Cup themed celebration as part of his 50 Parties project at his Manhattan studio. "With this project, I endeavored to create genuine parties with no hidden agenda – parties for the sake of parties, with absolutely no sponsorship. I was interested in the idea of party as medium and vehicle for creating content. To that end, each party was based on a different concept or theme, aimed at creating real interactions between guests," McGinness said. The CSC helped transform Ryan's studio into a soccer wonderland for the night, full of club paraphernalia, a Torwall on the roof and a caged pitch to host a friendly two-on-two tournament. |
